Grande Dunes Resort Golf Club, situated by the Intracoastal Waterway in Myrtle Beach, is recognized as one of the Myrtle Beach’s top golf courses since it opened in 2001.

Grande Dunes Resort Club was named National Golf Course of the Year in 2009 by the National Golf Course Owners Association. In 2014, it will co-host the PGA Professional National Championship with the nearby Dunes Golf and Beach Club. A field of 312 club professionals will tee it up and the top 20 finishers will earn a berth in the 2014 PGA Championship, to be held at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.

The course, designed by longtime Robert Trent Jones, Sr. collaborator Roger Rulewich, sits on a bluff overlooking the aforementioned Intracoastal Waterway, with seven holes playing to, from and along its banks. The most notable of these is the par three 14th, requiring a long iron or fairway wood shot to a long, angled green protected by a bunker in front and the Waterway on the right and behind. The putting surface is contoured such that a low, running left-to-right shot can access a back pin if the player is bold enough.

The Mediterranean-style clubhouse features a full-service pro shop and restaurant, and the practice facility is one of the area’s best.
